Why you need rent receipts

Salaried employees claiming House Rent Allowance (HRA) must submit rent receipts to their employer. A proper receipt shows the tenant and landlord names, the property address, the amount (in figures and words), the period and the landlord's signature. Affix a revenue stamp for cash payments above ₹5,000.
